stars and stripes...

Here's the one last lunch photo that I've been hanging onto!  Back a month ago or so my bento blogging friends decided to have a 4th of July blog hop.  Thankfully Clara was still in school so I was still making lunches at the time.  I thought I would go ahead, make one in advance and save the photo since she would be away at camp during the hop.  Plus I had a brand new star mini cookie cutter I wanted to play with :-)

So here's her stars and stripes lunch...
Her starry salad had baby lettuces (the dark lettuces leaves put on top to give a "night" sky for the stars), organic white cheddar and deli ham stars, halved grape tomatoes, and a random bear head hard boiled egg.  I still hadn't mastered egg molds yet (still haven't actually), so he's sort of earless... but he was still cute and she loves hard boiled eggs in her salads. The dressing isn't pictured, but it was balsamic vinaigrette.  I know it's a big stretch here, but I included veggie straws for the stripes.  And finally a red, white and blue sweet treat of raspberries, yogurt covered raisins and blueberries.

There are some fabulous lunches being posted so be sure to click on the image below and hop on through!  :-)

This lunch was also shared on Bento Blog Network's Bento of the Week 4th of July theme...
